About Monero

Monero hides sender, receiver and amount on every transaction — there is no transparent mode to fall back to, which is the main thing separating it from Zcash. Its RandomX proof-of-work is tuned for ordinary CPUs, deliberately making ASIC mining uneconomic. Monero has no hard cap: after the main emission curve ended in 2022 it settled into a permanent tail emission of 0.6 XMR per block, so miners keep earning once fees alone would not pay them.

Monero transactions are larger than Bitcoin's because of the privacy machinery, but fees stay low. Note that XMR is not listed on Binance, so liquidity sits on other venues and spreads can be wider.

XMR reacts to exchange delistings and regulatory news more sharply than to the general market — several of its largest single-day moves have had nothing to do with Bitcoin.
