About Celestia

Celestia is the clearest example of the modular thesis: it provides consensus and data availability, and nothing else. Rollups post their data to it and handle execution themselves, which makes launching a chain closer to deploying a contract than to bootstrapping a validator set. Its key technique is data availability sampling — light nodes can verify that block data was actually published by checking small random samples, rather than downloading everything.

Posting data to Celestia is priced per byte and is dramatically cheaper than posting the same data to Ethereum — that gap is the whole commercial argument for the chain.

TIA carried a very large unlock schedule after launch and has been sensitive to the modular-versus-monolithic debate swinging back and forth.

Staking TIA

Delegate TIA to a validator from a Keplr or Celestia wallet; rewards accrue per block and are claimed manually.

Unbonding takes 21 days, and staked TIA cannot be moved during it.
