About Litecoin
Litecoin is one of the oldest Bitcoin forks, using Scrypt proof-of-work with four-times-faster blocks and a four-times-larger supply cap. It runs its own halving cycle on the same 4-year rhythm as Bitcoin but offset in time. Because Dogecoin is merge-mined with it, Litecoin's hashrate is partly subsidised by DOGE rewards.
LTC transfers are cheap and fast, which is why it is often used as a low-cost rail to move value between exchanges.
LTC is a mature, lower-beta altcoin; it tends to rally late in cycles and around its own halving narrative.

Frequently asked questions
οΌHow many LTC are there?
77.44 million LTC were in circulation as of 31 July 2026, against a maximum of 84 million β so 92.2% of everything that will ever exist has already been issued, leaving 6.56 million still to come. The remaining 7.8% still has to reach the market at some point, which is a slow headwind rather than an event.
οΌCan I stake LTC?
None β Litecoin is mined, not staked. That is why there is no LTC staking calculator here: the tool reports rewards in units of the coin you staked, so it only covers networks that pay in that same asset. Publishing a page where the dollar figure was right and the unit was wrong would be worse than leaving it out.
οΌWhich LTC calculator should I use?
There are 5 on this page and they answer different questions. Start from what you are actually asking: what a past purchase would be worth now, what a position is worth today, where a leveraged position gets liquidated, or what regular buying would have produced. Each opens with the live LTC price already filled in, and every calculation runs in your browser β nothing is sent anywhere and nothing is stored.
οΌWhere does the LTC price on this page come from?
Live from CoinGecko when you press the price button, with the LTCUSDT pair on Binance as a fallback if that request fails. The request happens in your browser and carries nothing about you; if both fail the calculator keeps working with whatever figure you type in.
