About Chainlink

Chainlink is the dominant decentralised oracle network, feeding off-chain price data to the smart contracts that most of DeFi depends on. LINK is an ERC-20 token with a fixed one-billion supply used to pay node operators. Chainlink staking is a capped, purpose-built security pool rather than the open delegation model used by layer-1 chains.

LINK lives mostly on Ethereum, so on-chain moves cost Ethereum gas β€” use a layer-2 deployment or an exchange for small transfers.

LINK tends to move with DeFi risk appetite and has a history of long consolidation ranges punctuated by fast repricings.

Frequently asked questions

οΌ‹How many LINK are there?

748.1 million LINK were in circulation as of 31 July 2026, against a maximum of 1 billion β€” so 74.8% of everything that will ever exist has already been issued, leaving 251.9 million still to come. The remaining 25.2% still has to reach the market at some point, which is a slow headwind rather than an event.

οΌ‹Can I stake LINK, and what does it pay?

Yes. Deposit LINK into the Chainlink staking pool when space is available β€” entry is capped, so it is not always open. Rewards run at low-to-mid single digits, set by the pool programme, and the calculator on this page is prefilled with 4% so you can change it to whatever your validator or platform actually quotes. Staked LINK goes through a cooldown period before it can be withdrawn. Staking is native to the protocol here, so you are not relying on a third party's wrapper.

οΌ‹Which LINK calculator should I use?

There are 6 on this page and they answer different questions. Start from what you are actually asking: what a past purchase would be worth now, what a position is worth today, where a leveraged position gets liquidated, or what regular buying would have produced. Each opens with the live LINK price already filled in, and every calculation runs in your browser β€” nothing is sent anywhere and nothing is stored.

οΌ‹Where does the LINK price on this page come from?

Live from CoinGecko when you press the price button, with the LINKUSDT pair on Binance as a fallback if that request fails. The request happens in your browser and carries nothing about you; if both fail the calculator keeps working with whatever figure you type in.
