About Internet Computer
The Internet Computer runs full applications — front end included — directly on-chain, served straight to a browser. Its fee model is reversed compared with most chains: ICP is burned to create cycles, and the canister holding those cycles pays for its own computation, so end users transact without holding the token. Governance runs through the Network Nervous System, where you lock ICP into a neuron for anywhere from six months to eight years, and the longer the lock the more your vote and your reward are worth.
Users of ICP apps generally pay nothing, because the canister covers computation from its cycle balance — a genuinely different model from paying gas per action.
ICP fell more than 95% from its first-day price and remains sensitive to unlock schedules and to NNS governance decisions.
