Using the Internet Computer Staking Calculator
This calculator estimates what staking ICP pays over a period you choose, in both coins and dollars. The reward rate is prefilled at 10% — depends heavily on lock length — an eight-year neuron earns several times a six-month one — but treat that as a starting point, not a quote: staking rates move with participation and with validator commission, so put in the rate your own validator advertises.
How you stake ICP: Lock ICP into a Network Nervous System neuron and vote on proposals; rewards scale with the dissolve delay and with voting activity. Liquidity matters as much as the rate. You must start the neuron dissolving and wait out the full dissolve delay, which can be years. A high advertised rate on a coin you cannot exit quickly is a different product from the same rate on a liquid position, and that difference shows up exactly when you need it — during a sharp drawdown.
Two things the dollar figure cannot tell you. First, rewards are usually taxable as income when you receive them in most jurisdictions, at the value on the day — see the tax guide for your country. Second, ICP fell more than 95% from its first-day price and remains sensitive to unlock schedules and to NNS governance decisions. A 10% yield does not protect you from a price move several times that size, so judge staking on total return, not on the APR alone.

Frequently asked questions
- How much can I earn staking Internet Computer?
- At roughly 10% a year, staking 200 ICP earns about 20 ICP over twelve months before commission. Enter your own amount and rate above for the exact figure, in coins and at the live ICP price.
- Is my ICP locked while staking?
- You must start the neuron dissolving and wait out the full dissolve delay, which can be years.
- Are ICP staking rewards taxed?
- In most countries staking rewards are income at the moment you can access them, valued in your local currency on that date, and then a second capital-gains event when you later sell. A few treat them differently — Germany, for instance, has its own allowance for staking income. Check our tax guide for your jurisdiction.
- How are staking rewards calculated?
- Rewards ≈ amount staked × annual reward rate × (days ÷ 365). This is a simple (non-compounded) estimate.
- APR vs APY for staking?
- APR is the flat annual rate. If you restake (compound) rewards, your effective APY is higher — see the APY calculator.
