About Sky
Sky is the rebranded MakerDAO, and the rename came with new tokens: MKR converts to SKY at 1:24,000, and DAI can be upgraded one-for-one to USDS. Both old and new tokens still circulate, so a price quoted for MKR and one quoted for SKY describe the same underlying claim at very different unit sizes — worth remembering before comparing them. USDS holders can earn the Sky Savings Rate, and SKY can be staked in the protocol for rewards set by governance.
SKY is an Ethereum token and costs ordinary Ethereum gas to move; converting between MKR and SKY, or DAI and USDS, is a contract call with the same cost profile.
SKY tracks demand for USDS and the protocol's collateral income, and reacts to governance decisions about the savings rate.
