About Lido DAO
Lido lets you stake ETH without running a validator or locking 32 ETH, handing back stETH which keeps earning while remaining tradeable. It is by a wide margin the largest staking provider on Ethereum, which is also the main criticism of it — a single protocol controlling a large share of validators is a centralisation concern the community argues about constantly. The thing to be clear on: LDO is the governance token, stETH is the staked asset, and only stETH earns the staking yield.
LDO is an Ethereum token with ordinary gas costs; staking or unstaking ETH through Lido carries its own gas plus the protocol's fee on rewards.
LDO trades on Ethereum staking flows and on governance proposals about the protocol's fee, and has fallen hard on competition from restaking products.
