Using the Ethereum Classic DCA Calculator
Dollar-cost averaging means buying a fixed dollar amount of ETC on a schedule instead of trying to time one entry. This calculator models that: set how much you put in per buy, how many buys you have made, the average price you paid across them and the current ETC price, and it returns total invested, coins accumulated and what the stack is worth now.
DCA suits ETC for a specific reason. ETC often rallies as a sympathy trade on Ethereum news rather than on anything of its own, and it has suffered 51% attacks in the past. A fixed dollar contribution automatically buys more ETC when the price is down and less when it is up, which pulls your average entry below the simple average of the prices you bought at.
One thing the model does not capture: transaction costs on small, frequent buys. ETC gas is far cheaper than Ethereum's simply because the chain is much less used β the trade-off is a proportionally smaller security budget. If you are contributing a small amount weekly, check what percentage the fee represents β a flat fee on a tiny buy can quietly cost more than the whole strategy earns.

Frequently asked questions
- Is DCA a good strategy for Ethereum Classic?
- DCA removes timing risk, which is its whole point. It does not remove market risk β if ETC trends down for the entire period you keep buying, you will still be underwater, just with a lower average entry than a single lump-sum entry at the top would have given you. Compare both with our DCA vs lump sum calculator.
- How many ETC will I accumulate?
- Total invested divided by your average buy price. The calculator shows this directly, along with what those coins are worth at the live ETC price.
- What average price should I enter?
- If you know your exact fills, use your real weighted average β the average entry calculator on this site works it out from individual buys. If you are planning ahead rather than reviewing, an estimate of where ETC will trade over the period is fine; the result is a projection either way.
- What is dollar-cost averaging?
- DCA means investing a fixed amount at regular intervals regardless of price, smoothing out volatility over time.
- How is the average entry calculated?
- Average entry = total invested Γ· total coins accumulated. This calculator uses your provided average buy price.
